Founded in 1919, as a small
shop at Ditchling Road, Brighton, selling predominantly
second hand furniture, Buxtons soon grew under its
founder Percy Buxton, and after 1945, new outlets
appeared in other areas of the North Laine area
and also Shoreham and Crawley.
Development of the Ditchling Road site during the
1960’s enabled the site to be the furniture
showrooms, offices and headquarters of a new commercial
flooring division. |

With further changes to the
business during 2006, Buxtons now operates on 2
sites: the Commercial Flooring and Curtain Division
now operates from modern offices fully equipped
with carpet showroom & warehouse at the newly
designed Woodingdean Business Park on the outskirts
of the city.
The Retail Furnishings still maintain a city centre
presence at the original site at Ditchling Road,
west side of ‘The Level’ park. |
